Runaway Railway You'll Want to Be On
Construction walls are now down at the exit to the new Runaway Railway ride at Hollywood Studios! We should be inching closer to an actual release date rather than just "fall" of this year. I'm not entirely sure why but I am super excited for this ride! In fact, it may affect my Disney vacation plans. Just like many of you, I've been mulling over when exactly my next trip to Disney and Universal will be, and although summer works best so I can stay longer, I really don't want to miss the two big fall openings! Actually, there should be three ... the new Hagrid themed coaster at Islands of Adventure is set to open this year, which likely means around the same time. Now how to squeeze it all in without missing too much school? Darn school schedules!
If you're not familiar with the new ride, it's the very first Mickey and Minnie themed ride at the parks. Shocking I know! Those mice are all over the place when it comes to meet 'n' greets and parades, but the mouse that started it all has never had his very own ride. This new ride will take the place of the Great Movie Ride inside the Chinese Theater that is the centerpiece of Hollywood Studios. Promising to be an experience like no other, Disney imagineers have ventured into new territory with what they're calling 2 1/2-D. No glasses needed. The family friendly ride gives you the opportunity to step inside a Mickey cartoon. You'll start out watching a Mickey short of our favorite mice getting ready for a picnic, during which they'll drive alongside a train driven by none other than Goofy. This is where you'll be hopping aboard the train for a wacky ride inside a cartoon. How they'll do this I have no idea, but I'm confident it will be a ride you'll want to experience again and again.
Once the opening dates for these rides are announced, there will be an onslaught. Be prepared. Crowds will be up. Resort inventory will get low (and ultimately sell out). If you're waiting for the dates to be released to start your vacation plans, we can help. Email one of us (Jenn or Nicolette) if you'd like to be on our notification list.
